Biografía

No doubt about it the success of JENNI RIVERA is more evident than ever… A career that spans 12 years (since 1999) professionally speaking (although her first recordings date to 1993), JENNI RIVERA is the leading female artist in contemporary Regional Mexican music a prominent female figure in a genre that throughout the years has had been dominated by men. A powerful voice, a distinctive style, stage presence and talent, has placed her today as the leading interpreter of Mexican music.

Once again, JENNI surprises friends and audiences, with her new album entitled "Joyas Prestadas" ("Borrowed Jewels"), an album released on November 21, 2011.

"Joyas Prestadas" is a double album which shows the evolution, talent and growth as an artist of 'The Diva', all musical tracks (12 in total) included on this album, are interpreted in Pop and Banda with a voice and unmistakable style that has ranked her as the # 1 record seller and the most profitable concert performer.

The reason behind JENNI RIVERA's decision to record "Joyas Prestadas" dates back to her youth when she used to sell cassettes at local flea markets; something she disliked, because her parents forced her to wake up at 5:00 a.m. to arrive early to set up the merchandise for sale. Nevertheless by 9:00 a.m., in a better mood after a delicious cup of hot chocolate, she "fought" with her brothers about which music should be featured to attract the customers to buy their cassettes.

"Several years passed and cassettes became compact discs... we grew up and the fighting with my brothers continued... everyone wanted to listen to their favorite artists"... "Today I thank God that my parents taught us to work VERY hard and very early." Now is a great blessing for me to have had the opportunity to work behind the counters. "My parents could not have chosen a better business... MUSIC".

When JENNI RIVERA thought of recording this album, many artists passed through her mind, so many memories and so many times that she spent next to the most important thing that has in her life... family. In those days, she neither her parents nor her brothers, imagined that they were building part of their own musical legacy, the idea of becoming singers never crossed their minds, the music of these artists represented valuable jewels which were borrowed to sell and support their family.

"I thank God for the existence of every composer and each of the songs included in this album." In the same way I thank the existence of each one of the original performers of these songs and that without knowing they've influenced my musical taste... and now my career. I thank God for them... for lending me these "musical jewels" and for the privilege that God has allowed me to share with you… "The meaning of the title of this album signifies for me, all the musical tracks included are true musical gems, that other performers have made famous and that they've granted me the favor of borrowing them to interpret in my voice".

"Joyas Prestadas" features the following songs: "A Cambio de Qué?", "¿A Que No Le Cuentas?", "Resulta", "Así Fue", "Basta Ya", "Como Tu Mujer", "Detrás De Mi Ventana", "Lo Siento Mi Amor", "Que Ganas De No Verte Nunca Más", "Señora", "Resulta y "Que Ganas De No Verte Nunca Más", classic songs, that will take on a new life in JENNI RIVERA's voice, songs previously made famous by great artists such as: Marisela, Ednita Nazario, Isabel Pantoja, Olga Tañon, Rocio Durcal, Yuri, Lupita D'alessio, Valeria Lynch, Lucha Villa, Rocio Jurado and Dulce.

The first single off this album is "Basta Ya" penned by super star singer songwriter Marco Antonio Solís (who joins JENNI on vocals) a song that was previously made famous by Tropical music star Olga Tañón.

On this song track, 'The Diva of the Band' commented: "Thank you Marco, for your inspiration to compose this jewel and to accompany me with your voice in this great song." My album 'Joyas Prestadas' is a new musical adventure. To Olga Tañón thanks for making this song a real precious jewel".

Winner of 15 Gold Records, 15 Platinum and 5 Double Platinum Records, certified by the RIAA, with over 15 million records sold, JENNI is also the most sought out artist, not only in Mexico but also in United States, guaranteeing at each of her presentations a "Sold Out"; proof of this is the multiple stages she has performed at in the United States such as: Kodak Theatre, Nokia Theatre, Gibson Amphitheatre, San Jose Convention Center, and STAPLES Center just to mention only a few. Add to that JENNI is one of the most awarded artists, sometimes breaking records of nominations as it was in 2009, when she earned 7 Billboard Awards nominations, becoming the first female Regional Mexican performer be presented with so many nominations.

Boasting a discography of over a dozen albums may sound like an easy task to accomplish, but for JENNI RIVERA they represent a labor of love, hard work and most of all, a myriad of sacrifices. And as customary in everything she does, she continues to strive to be simply the best and as always is on a quest for giving the best of herself to her fans, her family and what she does best, her music.
